Iain Duggin leads the Microbial Morphology and Development research theme at the Australian Institute for Microbiology and Infection (AIMI) at UTS, where he is also the Deputy Director. His research aims to understand biology and mechanisms of microbial cell morphology and division, at the cellular, molecular and evolutionary levels. Through identifying and comparing cellular functions across archaeal groups, with bacteria and eukaryotes, it is expected that common mechanisms and principles can be identified and understood, leading to useful applications and a better understanding of life's history.
