Our Mission

The Archaea Power Hour initiative arose from a need to strengthen and grow a diverse archaea community. Our goal is to provide a space for researchers in all levels - from undergraduate students to seasoned investigators - to present their archaea research and obtain feedback in an informal setting.  We hope this initiative will foster research collaborations, support outreach efforts to educate the general public about the importance of archaeal biology and to attract underrepresented minorities to our field.

What we do

You can connect with other archaea researchers through Archaea Power Hour in multiple ways:

1.    Our monthly virtual conference (see link to schedule at the top of this page). Most talks are recorded and posted on our YouTube channel.
2.    Our Slack channel and our listserv where you’ll find information about the conference, links to the YouTube channel, job offers, and other announcements (see link to sign-up form at the top of this page)
3.    Our X (ex Twitter) account @ArchaeaPowerHr
4.    Contact us at ArchaeaPH@gmail.com

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Harassment Statements

We aim to connect all archaea labs across the Americas to facilitate the flow of knowledge between them. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment of any kind. Disciplinary actions will be taken to whoever engages in such behavior, ranging from warnings to expulsion from the talk of that month to being banned from all future talks.

If you ever have feedback or would like to report an incident please feel free to contact us at ArchaeaPH@gmail.com. We are committed to taking all reports seriously and acting promptly while protecting your identity.
