Dr. Nana Shao

I am an enthusiastic and innovative researcher eager to advance my research on a challenging stage. My research has encompassed various related aspects including anaerobic and molecular microbiology, biochemistry, microbial physiology and metabolism, taxonomy and phylogeny of prokaryotes, and basic bioinformatics. I favor advanced bioinformatics technologies combining with traditional approaches to address microbiological questions. With over 10 years of experience in microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, and biochemistry research, I have acquired a diverse set of skills across multiple disciplines. These include proficiency in molecular cloning techniques such as DNA, RNA and recombinant proteins purification, PCR; genetic manipulation of microbes using the CRISPR-Cas9 system; anaerobic techniques including isolation and identification of anaerobic microorganisms; biochemical analysis involving chromatography techniques such as HPLC and FPLC, enzyme activity determination, western blot, gel shift assay, and isothermal titration calorimetry; synthetic biology like expression vector optimization; and bioinformatics skills such as phylogenetic analysis, genome, and transcriptome analysis.
